Cycling through Lahemaa National Park

Francois and I set of early this morning with a tour operator for a bicycle journey through Lahemaa National Park. The weather was overcast and windy and it poured rain in the van on our way there. Luckily we had rain gear and decided prior to taking this trip that weather would never be an issue. Thankfully the rain held off and we had a great trip.

Located in the very north of Estonia, about a one hour drive from Tallinn is Lahemaa National Park (Lahemaa Rahvuspark). It covers an area of almost 726 square kilometres along the coast. The nature reserve was founded under the Soviet rule in 1971. The lodge pole pine remind me of the ones found in Cypress Hills.
Our trip took us through 40kms of unspoiled forests and coast lines. I can't remember the last time I biked 40kms, likely because I never have. What an awesome day, now to find the perfect restaurant for supper and beer. I love being on holiday.
